Heile Welt – Harte Arbeit

A pictorial essay of a Swiss Mountain Family, who during the summer months, live above the tree-line in the central Alps of Switzerland.
The book comes together with a CD of alpine jazz composed especially for the photographs. Slides of the images were projected onto the studio wall and the three musicians involved (drums, keyboard, clarinet) improvised a fantastic sound from the displayed images. Sound effects, such as a crackling fire and the Betruef  (a lonely preyer called out through a wooden megaphone), were added later.
The photographs were made between 1995 and 1997 on either 35 mm or 120 roll-film.
The book was published in German and English in 2003 by Cantina Verlag, CH-6410 Goldau, Switzerland, in German and English.    ISBN 3-85600-034-8
